 Objective: The main objective of this article is to present a sustainable development model based on the revival of educational capacities in higher education at Islamic Azad University in Tehran.Keywords: knowledge-based economy, higher education, Azad University
Materials and Methods: The research method is applied in terms of objectives, qualitative in terms of data, and emergent in terms of study type. Based on the conscious sampling method of the purposeful snowball type and based on theoretical saturation, 18 experts were selected The data collection tool is exploratory interviews. After collecting the data, their analysis was carried out in the form of open, axial, and selective coding. Based on the data analysis, an appropriate model of sustainable development based on the restoration of educational capacities in higher education was presente
Findings: The results of the research indicate that this model consists of six dimensions: causal factors , main phenomenon, contextual factors, strategic factors,intervening factors , and consequences , and 15 components and 116 constructive indicators, which is more valid compared to other models. Therefore , applying and operationalizing the aforementioned model can significantly contribute to improving the quality of higher education.
Conclusion: Studying the sustainable development model in Islamic Azad Universities can be considered as a step towards improving the quality of the higher education system, especially at the level of faculties and educational groups. To achieve this purpose, it is first necessary The dimensions and components of sustainable development should be identified, and then, through appropriate management and planning, the basis for improving and promoting sustainable development and, consequently, the quality of university education should be provided.
