Abstract: (21 Views)
One of the methods for developing foreign trade of each country is to accurately identify the economic-trade potentials as well as identify major trading partners and ways to increase the volume and composition of foreign trade, including exports and imports, to its desired level. Accordingly, in this article, the factors affecting Iran's trade with neighboring countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council have been examined using the gravity model for the years 1990 to 2020. To perform the estimates, panel unit root tests, panel cointegration tests, and estimation of long-term panel cointegration relationships using dynamic least squares (DOLS) estimators have been used. The results indicate that there is a long-term cointegration relationship between trade, economic growth rate, employment rate, consumer price index, wage price index of the population of Iran and neighboring countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. Based on the results of the model estimation, there is a positive and significant relationship between the variables of Iran's economic growth rate in the growth rate of PGCC countries and Iran's economic employment rate in the employment rate of PGCC countries with Iran's trade with PGCC countries. Also, the variables of Iran's consumer price index in the consumer price index of PGCC countries, Iran's wage price index in the wage price index of PGCC countries, and Iran's population in the population of PGCC countries have a negative and significant effect on Iran's trade with PGCC countries
